THE RESIDENCY
House of Shila runs an Artist in Residence programme [AIR] between its hotel locations [Mona & Shila] in Athens and on the island of Skopelos. Providing a refuge for uninhibited expression, artists are invited into the spaces to make work. The residency operates between November to April, offering a complimentary stay paired with breakfast for up to six nights. We feature every resident with photography and an interview; published in the HOS Journal.
THE SELECTION PROCESS
We accept applications from artists engaging in the fields of photography, film, painting, music, sculpture, dance, writing, textile, gastronomy, or any other creative medium that may defy the formal categorisation. Applications to the AIR programme are via the online form, which requests samples of work, an artist statement and description of what you’ll create during the residency. Successful applicants will hear from HOS directly. Due to the large volume of applications received, we may not be able to respond individually to unsuccessful entries, nevertheless, we archive all submissions and may contact to you in the future.
ART COLLECTION
Visual artists in residence are asked to donate a piece of work to the House of Shila collection, by the end of their stay. We encourage this exchange as it provides real evidence of their time in our spaces and contributes to the collection, enjoyed amongst our collectors, members, locals, and guests. Browse our art catalogue HERE. If you’re a musician, dancer, or performer, please detail your collaboration ideas in your submission. This may include live performances, installation and music recordings.
